Undergraduate Studies
If you would like to be accepted into the Chemistry Department you must:
  1. Have a GPA of at least 2.5.
  2. Petition the Chemistry Dept for acceptance.
  3. Choose the B.A. or B.S. degree track.
[Acceptance is based on GPA and the discretion of the Faculty Advisor.]

B.A. Track
Chemistry:32 hours
1111, 1112, 1331, 1332, 3221, 3222, 3331, 3332, 4370 or 4373 and 11 additional approved hours, of which at least 7 must be advanced.
Mathematics:12 hours
1431, 1432, and 2433
Calculus I, II, and III
Physics:8 hours
1112, 1122, 1321, 1322
Calculus-based Physics
Capstone Courses:6 hours of approved Capstone courses, or completion of a minor, or completion of a senior thesis
Foreign Language: 6 hours of 2000-level
Social Sciences:6 hours of approved Core Curriculum of which one three-hour course must be writing intensive
Humanities:3 hours of approved Core Curriculum, and the course must be writing intensive
English:6 hours of English rhetoric and composition 1303, 1304
History:6 hours
1376 or 1377 and 1378 or 1379 U.S. History
American Government:6 hours
1336, 1337
U.S., Texas Government
Free Electives: 28 hours
TOTAL: 122 HOURS
B.S. Track
Chemistry:50 hours
1111, 1112, 1331, 1332, 2133, 2233, 3119, 3221, 3222, 3331, 3332, 3369, 4115, 4270, 4272, 4229, 4365, 4369,4370, 4372, either 3336 or 4336, and 3 additional, approved, advanced hours.
Mathematics:12 hours
1431, 1432, and 2433, Calculus I, II, and III
In addition, MATH 3331, Differential Equations, is strongly recommended.
Physics:8 hours

Calculus-based Physics
Additional Natural Sciences: 6 approved hours
