Dr. Qin's paper on Oxidative degradation of oligo(ethylene glycol)-terminated monolayers has been accepted for publication in Chemical Communications. Congrats Guoting!

Dr. Yang Li joined the Cai Lab.

He will be working on the biofunctionalization of silicone and catheter surfaces via click chemistry. Welcome to UH Dr. Yang!

Work opportunities in the Cai lab

Postdoctoral Position: Organic Synthesis

Immediately available to work on the synthesis and modification of biologically active compounds, in particular carbohydrates and peptides, and the development of highly efficient catalysts for bioconjugation via click reactions. Successful candidates should have a strong background in organic synthesis as demonstrated by a record of publications in top journals (IF>3.5).

Interested candidates with a Ph.D. degree in synthetic organic chemistry should send CV to Dr. Chengzhi Cai via e-mail: cai@uh.edu. Due to the high volume of applications, only the top candidates will be considered with correspondence.

Postdoctoral Position: Biofunctionalization of Surfaces

A postdoctoral position is immediately available for biofunctionalization of surfaces and micro- and nanopatterning of biomolecules. Successful candidates should have a strong background in organic thin films as demonstrated by a record of publications in top journals (IF>3.5).

Interested candidates with a Ph.D. in surface science and have experience in preparation, derivatization and characterization of organic thin films should send CV to Dr. Chengzhi Cai via e-mail: cai@uh.edu. Due to the high volume of applications, only the top candidates will be considered with correspondence.

Chemistry Laboratory Technician (Full time)

We are in need of a full time chemistry laboratory technician. The lab techician is expected to perform sample preparations using established protocols. He/she is also in charge of the daily laboratory management and maintenance. Specifically, the tasks include keeping up to date inventory of equipments and commercial and synthesized chemicals, reinforcing laboratory rules and safety practice, maintaining equipments and supplies, and trouble shooting of common instruments.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or similar field, authorization to work in the US, and excellent organizational and communication skills. The position with a competitive salary (depending on qualification) is initially for at least two years with a probation period of three months. Interested candidates should send CV to Analette Lopez by email (analettelopez@yahoo.com)

Graduate Students

Our group is in need of talented, highly motivated and disciplined graduate students graduate students interested in working in one or more of the following research area: carbohydrate synthesis, bioconjugation methodology, micro- and nanopatterning, and biofunctionalization of solid surfaces, (bio)polymers and nanoparticl
